China's foreign trade pattern of titanium dioxide changes greatly this year, import reversal decline, exports will reach 150,000 tons a record

In the past 10 years, the titanium dioxide industry in China has been booming, especially the import and export trade of titanium dioxide has been developing rapidly. However, unlike the rapid increase in imports in previous years, the total imports of titanium dioxide this year will be lower than in 2004, and the total export volume will be higher than in 2004, setting a record high, and it is expected to reach around 150,000 tons.
According to statistics, China's titanium dioxide import volume has soared from 23,500 tons in 1990 to 109,000 tons in 1999. From 2000 to 2004, the imports of titanium dioxide in China were 142,000 tons, respectively. 153,000 tons, 188,000 tons, 229,000 tons and 251,000 tons; at the same time, the export volume of titanium dioxide increased from 14,100 tons in 1990 to 42,000 in 1999. After tons, from 2001 to 2004, the export volume of titanium dioxide in China was 55,600 tons, 55,500 tons, 68,300 tons, 79,000 tons and 94,200 tons, respectively. It can be seen that although the import volume of titanium dioxide has been increasing year by year, the export volume has increased little before 2002.
However, in 2005, China's titanium dioxide import and export situation has undergone fundamental changes. According to customs statistics, in the first nine months of this year, China’s total imports of titanium dioxide reached 170,100 tons, and the cumulative export volume reached 119,900 tons. Compared with the same period in 2004, imports have decreased significantly while exports have increased significantly. It is expected that the import of titanium dioxide in China will be lower than in 2004, and the export volume will reach a record high.
The titanium dioxide industry in China has been developing rapidly since 1998, and its total production capacity has increased from 190,000 tons in 1998 to 430,000 tons in 2001, becoming the world's second largest country in terms of production capacity, and then increasing from about 480,000 tons in 2002. The 720,000 tons in 2004 are expected to exceed 900,000 tons by 2006. With the expansion of production capacity, the actual production of titanium dioxide in China has also risen correspondingly, from 140,000 tons in 1998 to 600,000 tons in 2004.
As the domestic titanium dioxide industry's capacity expansion rate has slowed down significantly in 2005 and the market demand has continued to rise, it will be in short supply in a certain period of time. The capacity utilization rate of the company has reached the limit.
