Omega navigation system

The Omega system is an ultra-long-range continuous wave hyperbolic phase difference radio navigation system. The system is less attenuated during signal transmission, with a range of 929 to 1296.4 kilometers and a positioning accuracy of 1852 to 3704 meters. The Omega system has eight launchers around the world that enable round-the-clock, global radio navigation positioning. Because the Omega navigation and positioning system has a lower operating frequency and a relatively small attenuation in the water, Omega can navigate the boat for 10-20 meters underwater, and its military use is very obvious. In addition, the positioning error correction technology is adopted by the "differential Omega method", which can improve the positioning accuracy, generally up to 200-300 meters. Due to the advent of satellite navigation technology, the US Department of Defense announced in 1994 that it would stop using the system. Some countries and regions are still using the Omega system, and the complete cessation of the system may be until the beginning of the next century. The use of Omega systems can only be abandoned after the worldwide use of satellite navigation.
