At present, China's coal mine gas resources with good resource conditions and good prospects for development are about 16 trillion cubic meters. Among them, 40 wells in Weinan, Shanxi Province, the first gas development and production base will soon be put into production. It is estimated that more than 600 million yuan will be used for gas development throughout the country this year, and more than 330 wells will be drilled, which will exceed the accumulated investment and workload in the previous 8 years.
Experts said that although gas is a source of disasters for coal mine accidents, it is also a kind of clean energy, and it is the wealth that nature has endowed to humanity and should not be a threat to safe production. Scientifically and rationally developing and using gas, lifting coal mine safety and protecting miners' life safety are also conducive to the rational use of resources and environmental protection.
The reporter learned from the State Administration of Work Safety that 203 coal mines in the country have established gas drainage systems. At present, China's utilization rate for gas extraction is 41.1%, and it is planned to reach 50% during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan†period. The main ways of using gas include: civil (heating, gas), power generation, industrial fuels, chemical and so on.
