South Korea MERS death toll rises to 20 people will try "plasma therapy"

China News Service reported on June 17 that according to foreign media on the 17th, a new case of death from Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) was reported in South Korea and the death toll rose to 20. South Korean officials said that they will start trying "plasma therapy."

The so-called plasma therapy is to treat the same virus with blood from a rehabilitation patient's blood. This therapy was once used to treat various infectious diseases such as Ebola and has been proven to be effective.

However, since the first case of MERS infection was discovered three years ago, plasma therapy has not been widely used in the medical community, and there are no other effective treatments.

The Minister of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea, Han Wenheng, said that the hospital has obtained the consent of two patients for a plasma therapy test. Although there is not enough information and cases in this treatment, he has confidence in Korean medical personnel.

The South Korean health department reported on the 17th that there are 8 newly diagnosed patients with Korean MERS, and the total number of patients has increased to 162. Among them, 18 people are "instability." The segregated persons surged 922 people in one day, and the total number reached 6,508.

The EU has also seen the first case of MERS input this year. German authorities said on the 16th that a 65-year-old man died of acute lung disease earlier this month. Before the man died, he went to the Middle East. He is believed to be infected with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).
