The main components are: gold (1.5 ~ 20%), silver (2 ~ 10%), copper (1 ~ 8%), lead (6 ~ 10%), zinc (5 ~ 40%), iron (0.4 ~ 3 %), sulfur (0.4 to 15%), a small amount of silica, and water (25 to 40%). The composition of the gold mud plays a decisive role in the choice of the alchemy process. The zinc in the gold mud mainly comes from the excessive addition of zinc powder or zinc wire in the replacement process; the lead mainly comes from the lead salt added during the replacement (such as lead acetate, lead nitrate, etc.); the copper is mainly from the ore, and a part of the copper dissolved by cyanide is zinc.
