Deng Yaxuan, president of the China Rubber Industry Association, said recently that the major factor in the decline in tire production growth is in the market. The main factor in the rise in profits is price. It is necessary to clarify the causes of the two major characteristics in order to better analyze the situation and plan for development. Participants believe that the Chinese tire industry has entered a period of slight growth and must be transformed and upgraded. The development of green tires is the only way for transformation and upgrading.

Increased efficiency is not a market issue

Cai Weimin, secretary general of the Rubber Industry Association of China Rubber Industry Association, explained that according to the Tire Branch, the national tire production in 2012 was 470 million, which was an increase of 3% over the previous year (the same below). Statistics on 43 member companies showed that sales revenue was 205.57 billion yuan, an increase of 0.3%; export delivery was 127 million, an increase of 0.7%; and export delivery value was only increased by 0.1%. However, the economic benefits were much better than in the previous year. Statistics on 41 member companies showed that the profit growth was 62.8%.

Shen Jinrong, Chairman of Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Co., Ltd. analyzed that the cause of the slight increase in tire production was that China's economic growth slowed down, and that the adjustment of economic structure from “heavy” to “light” was a clear trend, and the growth rate of freight traffic declined. . Tire branch statistics showed that the total output of all-steel tires of key enterprises in 2012 increased by 2.19 million, of which exports increased by 2.18 million, and domestic sales only increased by 10,000. For markets with more than 50 million domestic sales, there was almost no increase. Second, with the increase in the use of conditions and technical levels, as well as tire retreading rate, the average service life of tires is extended. Third, the global economy is sluggish and the market is weak.

Deng Yaxi said that the industry’s profits have increased significantly. Although there are factors in technological innovation, adjustment of product structure, and improvement of production efficiency, the price of raw materials such as natural rubber has fallen sharply, and the rate of decline has been faster than the decline in the price of tires. This is a special case. . The inventory of tire dealers is relatively high, indicating that the market situation is not a good situation. She analyzed that domestic and foreign market demand will improve this year, and micro-growth may increase to medium-low growth, but in recent years, the shame in the market has greatly improved, and the tire industry has entered a new era of transformation and upgrading.

According to Xu Wenying, secretary general of the China Rubber Association, the United States and the European Union are two major export regions for Chinese tires. However, these two regions are mature markets. In recent years, the market share of original tires and replacement tires has changed little, and it is not a fast growing market. She believes that domestic tire companies should focus on the domestic market.

Problems in the transition period are still outstanding

Participants believe that there are currently four prominent problems in the tire industry.

First, the ability of technological innovation is weak and the product structure is irrational. One of the bottlenecks in the tire industry is product homogeneity. China has less original tire technology, most of which are imported technologies. As advanced technologies are not available, second-rate technologies have become hot spots, leading to similar products. Coupled with the large number of tire companies, market competition disorder, the result is that trade frictions continue.

Second, the issue of structural overcapacity is highlighted. In particular, the structural excess of some ordinary tires is more serious. The Tire Branch investigated 16 companies, of which more than half are planning to expand production. The disorderly expansion of production capacity not only causes waste of resources, but also restricts the adjustment of products and industrial structure, leading to vicious competition in the market.

Third, corporate costs continue to rise. Transportation, environmental protection, labor, water and electricity and other expenses are increasing. According to the surveyed key enterprises, the cost of sales increased by 10.1% in 2012, and the cost of main income per 100 yuan increased by 3.1 yuan.

Fourth, natural rubber prices fluctuate greatly. Tire companies report that companies are most hopeful that prices will be stable. Huge fluctuations will not only bring disaster to tire companies, but also will not be conducive to the healthy development of the natural rubber production industry.

Greening is the direction of upgrade

Feng Feng, chairman of Fengshen Tire Co., Ltd., believes that the main constraints in the transformation of China's tire industry are quality and brand, and that in-depth technological innovation and internationalization are weak. At present, China's tire production is high and its consumption of resources is high. However, its output is not as good as that of world-class enterprises. The direction of development based on quantity and scale is in urgent need of change.

Deng Yaxi said that the tire industry has entered the period of transformation and development with technological innovation at the core, relying on innovation to drive the development of high-end industries. First, to achieve high-end products, resolutely eliminate backward production capacity; Second, high-end equipment to promote tire production automation, intelligent development; Third, the market is high-end, expand service services around product features, such as fault diagnosis, remote consulting, online stores, New service forms such as mobile assembly maintenance.

Deng Yaxi also pointed out that advancing the industrialization of green tires is not only to respond to the implementation of the EU Tire Labeling Act, but also to the transformation and upgrading of the tire industry in China. At present, the subject of "Research on Green Tire Industry" undertaken by the association has passed the demonstration. On this basis, the association will organize the formulation of "green tire industry self-discipline standards", the preparation of "green tire company voluntary declaration system implementation measures", the establishment of a green tire technical support center, etc., to form a set of green tire production process and standardized production model, and establish Tire classification system.

According to the Tire Branch, if domestic truck tires are all switched to tubeless tires, it will save about 1.4 billion liters of oil each year, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 3.1 million tons, and save 120,000 tons of raw rubber. In terms of green tire production, domestic backbone enterprises such as Aeolus, Shuangqin, Hangzhou Rubber, Triangle, Linglong, Guilun, and Race Wheel have already taken the lead. Their all-steel tires have been awarded as green tires by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
