How is the motorcycle lighting dim? Don't rush to change the xenon lamp

There are many reasons why the lights are not bright enough, but there are fewer reasons for the previous bright and then not bright enough. The main ones are as follows:

One is to use a bulb with too much power and too high voltage. In the case where the power of the generator coil and the rectifier is constant, the use of a high-power bulb can not only improve the brightness, but also causes a serious drop in the brightness due to insufficient supply current, which is not worth the effort.

The second is leakage of the switch or line. The motorcycle has been used for a long time, the line is loosely tied, and the wires rub against each other, which easily wears the insulation layer and causes leakage.

Third, the switch contacts and the wire connectors are in poor contact and the conduction is not good. This piece is also an important factor. Many motorcycles have been used for a long time, and the switch contacts are oxidized, so that the contact resistance is greatly increased, limiting the supply current, resulting in a decrease in the brightness of the headlights.

Fourth, the magneto-electric lighting coil is damaged, and the voltage generated is insufficient . This situation mainly corresponds to the model of the AC headlights, and the brightness of the headlights naturally decreases due to the drop in the power generation voltage.

The above is a common reason for determining whether a fault occurs in a lighting circuit or a magneto-electric lighting coil, and specific analysis is required. The method for detecting whether the line is normal is as follows: the magnetic motor lighting coil output connector is disassembled, and then the battery with sufficient power is connected to the lighting circuit, and the brightness of the headlight and the tail light is normal, indicating that the lighting circuit is faultless.

The fault is easy to lock the magneto, then start the engine, increase the throttle, and measure the output voltage of the lighting coil. If it can't exceed 12V, turn off the coil resistance. If it is less than 0.2Ω, it means there is a short circuit inside the coil.

The solution is simple, either replacing the magneto stator coil or changing the AC headlamp to a DC headlight.

Some car enthusiasts who like to modify the xenon lamp need to be reminded that the power of the coil and the rectifier must be paid attention to before the modification. It is not recommended to modify the xenon lamp of more than 35W for ordinary motorcycles. Otherwise, it is very likely that the brightness of the xenon lamp is not ideal due to the small power generation. .

Some car friends may have said, change the xenon lamp, change the LED light! Indeed, the LED light is really bright, the front is white and swaying, it looks very bright, but it has a fatal flaw, that is, the penetration is too weak, popularly speaking, it is impossible. Although the xenon lamp may not feel as bright as the LED light, it is very far away, making it easy for drivers who often run the night.
